Cajun Fish Tacos with Spicy Avocado Sauce

It's Taco Tuesday again!  I've decided to change it up a bit this week with these full flavor Fish Tacos.  I give my Tilapia the perfect amount of heat from spices and pair it with a milder slaw.  The tacos are completed with a creamy and Spicy Avocado Sauce which joins all the flavors together in a perfect union.  If by some reason you are not able to eat this all up the night you cook it, no worries.  Pop your leftovers in the oven for a few minutes until warm and it will be just as good as the night before.  You could also reheat with a microwave if you prefer.

Cajun Fish Tacos with Spicy Avocado Sauce

Serves 4

Ingredients:
For the Cajun Fish:
  • 1.5 lbs Tilapia Fillets
  • 1 ½ tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp Cumin
  • ½ tsp Sea Salt
  • ½ tsp Coconut Sugar
  • ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 TBSP Avacado oil
  • Paleo Tortillas
For the Slaw:
  • ½ small bag of tri color Cole Slaw
  • ½ cup Cilantro
  • Juice of 1 Lime
For the Spicy Avacado Sauce:
  • ½ cup Coconut Cream
  • 1 ripe Avocado, pitted and skinned
  • ¼ cup Cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 Lime
  • 3 Cayenne Peppers, chopped and seeded
  • Salt, to taste

Here's what ya do:
  1. Make 8 tortillas.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, onion powder, cumin, salt, coconut sugar, and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle the mixture over both sides of your tilapia fillets, and then rub the seasonings in.
  3. Combine all of the Spicy Avocado Sauce ingredients in a food processor or blender. Pulse until well-combined.
  4. Combine all of the Slaw ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
  5. Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Once heated, add in the tilapia (a few at a time if you can't fit them all at once). Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the outside is blackened and the fish flakes apart easily.
  6. Remove the fish from the heat.
  7. Break up the tilapia into 2-3" pieces. Stack the tortillas in twos. Distribute the fish evenly between the 4 sets of tortillas, and top with Slaw and Spicy Avocado Sauce.
  8. Enjoy!
